This video is from the VOICES program that was offered from 2010 - 2014 in collaboration with Word Up Community Bookshop.
WHAT IS TO BE HEARD?
To Be Heard is a theatre program for teens ages 13 - 17. As the group engages in People's Theatre Project's theatre making process they collectively choose a theme to explore each week through theatre making projects. The culmination of this fast-paced, creative process is a dynamic theatrical collage created and performed by the group for the community.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Teens ages 13 - 17 are invited to register. No prior experience is necessary. One group of 15 teens will be enrolled.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Participation in all People’s Theatre Project programs is free.
WHEN DOES THE PROGRAM MEET?
Rehearsals take place over the course of 13 Saturday mornings and culminate in December and May/June with a new production conceived, created and performed by the group. Additionally, participants in the spring program may be invited to be part of our year-end event “The People Storm the Palace” which takes place in June.
WHAT IS THE COMMITMENT?
Participants are expected to attend each rehearsal. Those teens who miss more than 2 rehearsals may not be able to participate in the final performance. Families are encouraged to participate by volunteering time and talents at events, attending events and making a meaningful contribution in whatever way that works for your family. A parent or guardian is required to attend the program orientation on the first day of the program.
